What Does a Naturopath Do and Treat?
What does a Naturopath Do?
Naturopathy is a distinct and complete system of health care. Six foundational principles underpin the practice of naturopathy: The healing power of nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae), First do no harm, Find and treat the cause whenever possible, not only the symptoms (Tolle Causum), Treat the whole person, Education and Prevention. These six principles are kept in mind when a naturopath takes your case, develops a treatment plan and also offers maintenance for long term good health. ANPA
Naturopathy is both an art and a science. Naturopaths are prevention medicine specialists. Today naturopaths use scientific evidence as well as traditional evidence in practice.
Naturopathic case-taking often uncovers dis-ease long before it has become a diagnosable pathology. Naturopaths treat both acute and chronic conditions. Naturopathic care is well suited to anyone at any age. Naturopaths have many answers for common conditions. Naturopaths use various modalities in their practice. These may include: herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, homeopathy, dietary and lifestyle advice, massage therapy or other therapies. –ANPA

When should I see a Naturopath?
Our Naturopaths would love to help you. Many people feel as though their case is too complex for a Naturopath. However, we really take pride in removing the confusion. One thing we do is create a health mind map and this lays out for you all the possible triggers and avenues we could explore, in an easy to understand manner. We communicate with your doctor and other allied health practitioners regarding your treatment, if you wish. Thus, seeing a Naturopath is beneficial as part of collaborative care.
If you are generally well, it is also a good time to see a Naturopath. We will look at completing a general nutrient analysis through pathology testing and assist areas that could affect nutrient absorption. We would also assess natural anti-ageing strategies such as an anti-inflammatory and high anti-oxidant diet.
